Experiential learning

Experiential learning has four steps and starts with:

  1. Discovering and making an experience. Test a new situation.
  2. Individual and collective reflection on how we experienced the situation.
  3. The conceptualization phase – We analyze in subgroups “Why it happened the way it happened?”
  4. Action or application phase – Reflection on what to do next based on the learning from steps 1 to 3.

The brain learns in 4 ways:

  • Auditory – experiential learning through hearing
  • Visual – experiential learning through seeing
  • Tactile – experiential learning through touch and textures
  • Kinesthetic – experiential learning through movement

Successful learning stimulates all four ways. This helps us to better retain what we have learnt.
